Gerber Bear Grylls Parang Review

Gerber Bear Grylls Parang review

In this article, I will present you a Gerber Bear Grylls Parang Machete review, a specific Bear Grylls Parang that I liked a lot. In this article, I am presenting ups and downs for this product and I show you a lot of photos of Gerber Bear Grylls Parang.

The Gerber Bear Grylls Parang was the first item from the series I tested. Right from the start, I realized that this was no average cheap flimsy machete in the hand. I had bought the Parang from Amazon.com a few days earlier to this writing for about $31.63, a good price for a great tool! In this review, I punished the Parang in a multitude of tests including wood splitting, brush and tree limb cutting, and tree limb chopping on a wooden block.

1. Wood splitting with Gerber Bear Grylls Parang

The Gerber Bear Grylls Parang did very well at wood splitting, felt good in the hand while performing it,  glided through the hard Pecan wood with ease and quickness while doing so. The handle providing a great grip and not very much shock to the hand. I was very pleased with that.

2. Brush chopping and tree limb cutting with Gerber Bear Grylls Parang

It did very well on the brush chopping and tree limb cutting and cut through it like butter. I was well pleased with the grip in the hand as well here, no slipping or shock transferred to the hand at all.

3. Chopping limbs on the wooden block with Gerber Bear Grylls Parang

The Parang excelled at this task, making short work of chopping 3/4 to 1-inch diameter round pieces of wood like one would chop a carrot in the kitchen very easy and fast, be careful not to get your fingers in the way or they will get chopped too!

4. The sheath of Gerber Bear Grylls Parang

Excellent quality with a simple belt loop on the back and snaps for the release of the Parang. It is made from thick durable nylon that is Mildew resistant and is a military grade also. It is more than adequate to hold the Parang inside and not to worry about getting poked while holstered at all. It also has a pouch on the back giving both Land to Air signals and Alpine signals for rescue and help. In the pouch is a place for Bear Grylls Priorities OF Survival pocket guide, keeping it secure and dry away from the weather and elements.

5. The Bear Grylls Priorities Of Survival Guide

Overall I thought this guide was very well made and packed full of useful info that could help in the bush and might also save your life in a Survival situation. It included diagrams of Snares, Shelter building, Signaling and Rescue, Fire Making, Clothing options and advice, different knots of use, Scavenging, Traps/Snares, Navigation, and Water Collection and Purification. Even for someone that does not have any outdoor, bushcraft or survival knowledge it is surely a no-brainer and has the necessary info with-in to survive well and to make it out alive. I highly suggest that everyone that gets one reads it, even if you are not a beginner in the field!

6. Summing up the Gerber Bear Grylls Parang Review

Overall for the parang review, I give the Gerber Bear Grylls Parang 5 stars! It is an excellent chopping tool. The handle is grippy doesn’t slip….even when wet, and is comfortable in many holding positions. The blade is composed of high carbon double beveled edge, easy to sharpen, a rubberized handle, full tang, curved blade for excellent chopping, and a lanyard for stability while doing so, Pocket guide and exceptional Sheath. If I had to change anything about the Parang I really don’t think it would be much at all, this surely is a tool that Bushcrafters, Survivalist and just the average person going out into the bush needs! If you get one you won’t be disappointed by the Gerber Bear Grylls Parang!
